The Quarry threat...
"The prospect of quarrying and construction of associated
infrastructure at Mt. Crosby, remains a significant threat to our lifestyle
and the environment".
- Has potential to be the largest quarry development in Queensland
- Four landholders owning 1000 ha. designated for quarrying
- Infrasructure would include crushing plant and dedicated haul route
- Potential volume of 1400 trucks per day (per
PB report *)
Residents of Mt. Crosby and adjacent areas enjoy a quiet semirural lifestyle,
a lifestyle which could be shattered by large scale industrialisation
in the form of likely quarry development. Threats include:
- Adverse impact on the semirural character and visual appeal of the
area
- Loss of existing peace and quiet of the area
- Adverse impact on the environment, and introduction of dust and pollution
- Adverse impact on property values
- Possible lack of timely compensation for property owners directly
affected by the quarry and haul route
* Note: The PB report analyses 714 full trucks per day at maximum quarry
capacity of 5 million tons p.a., therefore we assume double this number
to allow for returning empty trucks.
